My name is Jason, and I am the webmaster for this site. I am just a regular Joe living in Northern Canada. For the last year, I have come to the realization that most of my generation really has no idea what it would be like to live without power, or clean water, or the convenience of running to the store for milk or anything we need at a moments notice. As I watch my extended family age, I am also realizing that so many skills they possess are not being transferred to my generation (probably lack of interest on our part). Things like gardening, hunting, canning and preserving food are just some aspects of "days of old" that we no longer see the need for. This site is kind of like my journey into learning these skills and trying to put them to use. I may never need them, but I have felt that need to be prepared for all types of situations.
