What Will Happen in 2012?

Charles Darwin described evolution as survival of the fittest. In theory, it means that only those who are fit and healthy can survive on this planet. Only those that were fit, healthy, and willing to evolve have survived; the rest have become extinct. What are we doing to escape this same fate?

What will happen on December 21, 2012?
This day marks the end of the Mayan Calendar, the anniversary of the first winter solstice in 5125 years since the inception of the Mayan civilization, and the last complete solar alignment. The Mayans, an ancient and terribly poignant civilization, ended their calendar on December 21, 2012 with an ominous sounding prediction of a world-wide spiritual evolution. They were an extremely advanced race who actually created the concept of "zero"; the calendar as we know it; and had running water and architecturally sound structures (without the help of proper tools and instruments). they predicted that in 2012 the human race will face the end of civilization as we know it.

If you choose to believe the media, you can fret about the end of the world in 2012 and start touting around your sandwich board now. There have, in fact been many predictions based on the end of the Mayan calendar:

  • The solar system coming into exact alignment causing some Earthly wackiness.
  • The geysers in Yelowstone National Park erupting after 650,000 years being dormant.
  • The tectonic plates under the earth all colliding causing volcanoes to erupt, earthquakes and other natural disasters of epic proportions.
  • Extraterrestrial beings invading our planet to help ups rebuild after the many disasters that may take place.

If you choose to think about this and the other predictions rationally, you may come to find that all of them COULD possibly come true, at exactly the same time, on the same day. But why wait for a predicted doomsday? Any of these things could happen at any moment; we can't really predict any disaster that's coming our way until it is imminent. So instead of focusing on one potentially disastrous day, why not be prepared for anything right now?

Survive EVERY Day, Not Just One...
So what exactly up against? We all know global warming is a fact:

  • the poles are melting
  • we are facing extreme temperatures and droughts more and more every year
  • the forests are dwindling causing increased carbon dioxide emissions
  • new, aggressive virus strains are being born
  • because of the tectonic plates in the Earth shifting and the extreme temperatures, we are facing bigger, more frequent natural disasters

Should we panic? No. Should we be scared? Maybe a little... Should we be prepared? Absolutely. The fact is Charles Darwin was right: it is survival of the fittest. And in the human race, we have evolved to be able to prepare ourselves for anything.

Will we die in 2012? Who knows. Why not live everyday with the peace of mind that you are prepared for anything, instead of thinking about one day that may leave you prepared for nothing.
